Default Re: PPG glass manufacturing?

umm let me see, safelite SUCKS badly on installs and even worse on trying to repair. FYG, Fuyao, and oh yea the worse has got to be Northstar. You think these are hard to fit, wait till you get a call to repair one<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/mad.gif ALT=">:"> a nightmare.

we use PPG they have always had a high standard of quality. Not the cheapest supplier to deal with by far..but you get what you pay for. I also like Guardian and Carlite. You can actually place one of these windshields in a rack next to an el cheapo, and visually see the difference in tint, and the way the glass is curved or made.

What alot of people don't know is that the American tempering process on plate glass (Which is what windshields are made from) is slower therefore the glass is softer, most foreign countries temper faster to produce quanitity, which also makes the glass harder and therefore will sandpit easier. Softer glass reflects more debri than a harder glass. thats why a generic glass will look like @#%$ in two months after it has been installed, and also why the repairs don't turn out as well.
