Windshields are not tempered glass. They are two pieces of raw glass laminated together.The laminate is what holds the glasses. PPG is a business like any other business and therefore wants to lower costs. PPG outsourses a lot of there glass. Just because it says PPG on it dosen't mean it was made in the USA in a PPG plant. We have installed a lot of PPG glass made in Italy, Canada and Mexico. It is good glass but we have had problems with the fit of PPG and other major glass makers, nobody is perfect. The Chinese are getting better and sometimes is the only glass available. I tried to get an "American" w/s for a 69 El Camino my options were FYG or Mexican PPG. Times, they are a changing.
