You sound Normal to me.
Try not to think about rejection, Every sales person in the world has to deal with rejection, at least you are not selling cars where they may only get 1 sales from every possible 10 they talk with, you are selling a service, you are doing them a favor by saving them money while putting a little in your pocket, (not a bad thing) reverse the scenario, would you appreciate someone saving your windshield?
The customer has two other options, leave the break till it cracks or pick another repair person, so windshield repair with you isn't a bad choice for them.
Think positive thoughts, try to wear the friendly fireman's hat while carrying your kit, There will be some people who say No but that's OK its their choice, Id say most would say yes please fix it for me, but still today some people are ignorant.
Maybe you could focus on the safety aspect of your biz seeing as you are a fireman, always better to fix than replace...
Always carry Biz cards and pass them out to people who dont have rock chips, if they like and trust you they will call you.
Building a biz takes Time.
