Re: Say what?
Sun King Publishing puts out two publications to the mobile technician industry, the Mobile Tech News and Detailer's Digest. Both are good publications that reach many in the industry both in the USA and on the other side of the pond. They have been promoting "person of the year" awards to a number of different segments of the industry for several years. Don't quote me on this but I believe that in addition to windshield repair awards are given for detailing, PDR, and other segments of the industry.
Frankly I do not know how many people vote, but nomination forms are included in the two publications for months in advance of the annual Mobile Tech Expo where the awards are passed out.
After the MTE last year I decided to put up a post on this forum asking for all forum members to vote for the person they thought most deserved the MT windshield repair person of the year award. Not as many people responded as I had hoped, but the clear winner here on the forum was screenman, so I sent in a nomination for screenman to Sun King Publishing, noting the fact that he has been very active on the windshield repair forum, and that in a poll on the windshield repair forum he was selected above all others by his peers.
I also sent out nomination forms to many of our customers so they could nominate the technician of their choice for windshield repair person of the year, but I have no way to know how many of those were submitted, who else was nominated, or how many votes were tallied for each nominee. I missed the award ceremony at the MTE, but later found out that screenman had won the award, and offered my congratulations.
I really don't see what all the fuss is about. Less than a dozen judges chose the winners at the Windshield Repair Olympics, does that make it any less an achievement? Whether it was 1000, 100, or even 10 people that voted screenman the Mobile Tech Windshield Repair Person of the Year, he received more votes than anyone else and that is all that matters.
The Mobile Tech Expo is a small but very focused trade show, and I would recommend it to anyone in the mobile auto repair industry. The Mobile Tech News and the Detailer's Digest are also very good publications for any of you looking to add additional services to your windshield repair business. Kevin Halewood does a tremendous job with the publications and the MTE.
Why would anyone not promote the fact that they were recognized with an award from their peers? I know I would.
Now as for posting on other forums, HOW DARE YOU SCREENMAN!
Just kidding.
