Default Placemat Advertising

Placemat ads benefit the restaurant owners in that their personalized placemats are paid for by the advertisiments, so this is an expense that they dont have to bear themselves. The salesman wants you to believe that everyone will read the placemat and/or clip and save your coupon. I have serious doubts about thaat being realistic. There is a local restaurant that has advertising printed on their menus. This is a rural area, and you might think I could tell you which of my neighbors purchased an ad... I can tell you only one... not because I was interested in his service, but because he also purchased an ad in the directory I produced last June. I hope you give this a lot of consideration before going for it. How many repairs do you have to get from this ad in order to break even? Taking it by the average... $335 divided by $50= between 6 and 7, during the time these placemats are in use. Considering that when 2 or more people sit down to eat they are going to be interacting with one another and probably not reading what the placemat says at all ... (unless it is an area map ...popular in touristy place, a game board, or a chinese placemat with all the pagan year-of-the-somethings on it.... my guess is that they arent going to notice much of what it says).

If this seems negative, I apologize, you did ask for opinions, and this is mine. I think there are lots better ways to spend your advertising $$.
