Default re: crack repair w/o sliding bridge

chprfixr,

I think in addition to DELTA's position for standard stone chip repair, techs do not drill to minimize the negative effect on appearance and this includes myself. Provided the break will fill completely. I don't think this necessarily applies to just techs using DELTA KITS though. I have found on most of the repairs I encounter are stars and combo's and as long as there a piece of glass missing with connected legs they will fill but you will have to a little more patient and they will require some manipulation. Where are all those bullseyes<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D"> Maybe some of the high volume fleet techs will drill all stars and combo's for efficency because the client is more concerned with reliability, down time and savings rather than appearance.

For the cracks, I first must state I don't repair cracks over 12 inches and prefer them to be no older than 1 month. These are just my personal set standards for appearance concerns / customer satisfaction. So I don't know if this will help you. I usually fill the chip first and as much of the crack as possible, cure and then from the anchor fill and cure the remaining portion. For horizontal and vertical cracks alike I prefer to fill from top to bottom when possible. Although the resin is being pushed sometimes the crack diameter is so tight it is easier to push the resin down hill similar to a gravity feed. Don't forget to use your crack expanders when needed and put enough resin in your injector. This is what has worked for me.

There are different ways to accomplish the end result and we all have a preference. They should all work as long as you apply the fundamental basics that apply to all of us no matter what system we use.

Good Luck with your new system and business.

Pay it foward,

Brian
