Default Re: IF YOU HAD IT TO DO OVER AGAIN........

I would still have entered the field when I did. My initial investment was $150 for a used kit with all the essentials of getting started including 2 bridges and injectors. I know now that my training was lacking in a number of areas, but through the internet and especially these forums, I soon was able to self-train and correct errors in procedure.

The one thing I would do differently is this: I would have invested the money I spent for the Glass Technology VP-5000 system in several of their 20-20 manual systems. Not because there is anything wrong with the VP-5000... it is a terrific unit, and has served me very well. The reason is that the 20-20 injector system is capable of producing excellent repairs too, and that is the goal ... quality repairs. The 20-20 system was, in fact, my first upgrade from the first equipment I purchased. I was (and still am) happy with it, and had not considered purchasing the VP-5000. My husband, though, thought that it looked more impressive to have the more elite system, and encouraged me to make the investment, (even though I tried to tell him that people werent as interested in the equipment, as how the finished repair looks). It works great, and as I said, I have no problem with it... I just dont think I need it. So.. when hubby retires from his job and joins me in windshield repair, the VP-5000 will be his, and I will use the 20-20.
Now, I don't want any one to think that the VP-5000 isnt worth what GT sells them for. It is a quality system, and they back it with a generous warrantee, and excellent customer service and technical support. I just dont think I personally needed it.
I cannot think of any other significant thing that I would do differently. Windshield repair was a God-send at the time I stumbled into it, and has continued to be a blessing to me day by day. I love that I provide a valuable service to my friends and neighbors, that in most cases their insurance will pay for.
Well, enough already... I love this business!

It snowed this week... I love it when it snows... they put CINDERS on the road !!!!!!!!!<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">
