I like to use the lube rather than a water based cleaner when sanding it goes much faster no dust and the maker of the original system I used claims plastic being a petroleum product forcing it into the plastic helps to clear it up either way it works and after a very quick wipe down with the thinner the top coat can be applied I just squirt it on and sprad it lightly also working when its hot the WD doesnt dry off like the water based stuff
As far as the top coat i mix it in a 8 oz squeez bottle and keep it in the tool box when its starting to get low i mix a second bottle before heading out in the morning the 8 oz does more than a dozen pairs so i dont need to fill during the day |

its fine for a couple weeks as long as you keep it out of dirrect light for any extended period. I squirt it on the light and spread it with the paper towel

Speaking of the 1:1 mix....has anyone heard from Ben (harrellbenjamin) our 1:1 mix originator? He seems to have disappeared.

We had a little disagreement, no big deal. If Ben is not too mad at me he will be back in a few days.

Ok we will go thru the process i use 1 more time
STEP 1 I sand with liquid WD-40 start with 400 grit then 1000 grit if doing it by hand.I use 600 grit and 1200 grit if I am useing the cordless most times I start with the cordless then do a light hand sand as a finish STEP 2 I wipe the entire lens with a paint thinner soaked blue scott towel STEP 3 I use a mix of 50/50 paint thinner and a commercial grade Outdoor urethane (I like the Helmsnan Outdoor) I put it in a squeeze bottle I squirt a little on the lens and spread it with a folded up blue scott towel |
