I respect Mr.Bill's note about clear packing tape but I always use the chips because the adbesive used is not supposed to melt into the damage. Side note to Mr. Bill, do you have a Facebook with your paintimgs on it?

My opinion. I just use a carbide awl, lightly scratch a small indentation at the end of a crack to keep the burr from skipping.

Also, a new customer called yesterday evening. During the repair it came out in discussion she is not a member of A/L but saw the logo on my website and she associated that with reliable companies.
