Advice needed.

Post by Mustangwilly »

I'm looking for some advice on a windshield replacement I had done on my truck. The truck is a 2016 toyota tacoma and had only 500 miles on it so I fought for an oem windshield and got it. The problem is the installer scratched the roof of my truck on both sides where it meets the top of the windshield down to bare metal. I didn't discover this until I got home. Is there anyway they didn't know they did this? If I get them to pay to fix the paint and they have to remove the windshield can this windshield be reinstalled? Any advice on how I should handle this and if there is any input about anything I should be aware of would be appreciated.

Yeah, call the shop up and send them the pictures or take truck back to them as soon as possible. Installer should have taped off that area. No doubt that's from the installer and scratched it when he cut out old windshield. He definitely knows he did it. Take truck back to shop.

Have them fix it as it is definite damage during install due to carelessness. Request a body shop fix the paint.
Unfortunately a very common problem in this industry.
The other concern is if they damaged your paint and didn't say anything what else could be wrong with the install.
Is your dash and interior ok?
Was any primer used on any scratches in the pinchweld?
Was any primer used on the glass?
Was the adhesive product still within a useable date range?
