Chad, I think stihlcarven said he was billing the networks directly, not the insurance companies directly, but if I am not mistaken SGT was billing the insurance companies directly, which is a whole different ball game. I agree with SGT, while technically possible to bill most insurance companies direct, the time and effort involved just is not worth it for most windshield repair technicians. However, as stihlcarven said, getting set up with the networks and billing them directly is pretty simple. I've heard some horror stories, but when we used to recommend eDirectGlass, before they raised their prices, we helped hundreds of technicians get signed up with the major networks and it generally only took a few days. We are still helping Delta Kits customers get signed up with the networks every day and rarely is there a problem.
Is there a need for a service that sends your invoices to the networks via EDI? Obviously GlassStarz and others feel there is a benefit. Like SGT and Glasstime, I too use an EDI provider for my Lynx claims, and only my Lynx claims, although I don't currently use the one either of them use. However, if stihlcarven can show me an easier way, that is also faster and less expensive than the way I am currently processing those claims, that's what I'll do.
I agree with Chad, how you handle your insurance billing is personal preference, but making an educated decision should be the goal here, so I don't see why anyone would not want to get as much information as possible before making this important decision. I think that is what lwoodcox came here looking for, so I'm glad GlassStarz mentioned ACT, I'm glad Chad mentioned the names of a few other billing services, and I'm glad stihlcarven is going to provide instructions for billing the networks direct. lwoodcox will do her homework and hopefully find a solution that is right for her husband's business model.
