1991 Didge Spirit Windshield Side Moldings?

I am "old school" when it comes to windshield repair. I am about to do a renewal on a 1991 Dodge Spirit, and I was told that the side moldings have metal tabs that actually wrap around the glass.

Is this true? And if so, is there a way to cut out the glass from the outside and be able to salvage the moldings for re-use?

Any tips or advice would be most appreciated. Thanks.
