Hi there, I am just wondering if any Insurance companys are starting to check on windshield Rock Chip Repairs in your state. I myself have not run into that problem yet here in MASS .I did hear that a Company(MASS) made approx 50+ claims(Windshield Rock Chip Repair) with a local insurance company, and the Insurance company were wondering if they were charging for a Surface chip or a Windshield Rock Chip repair

I would like to see them check the repair was carried out properly, which I am finding 95% of the time is extremely unlikely.

I did a re- repair last week.
The original repairman drilled a big hole at the impact point of the star break and then filled that drill hole.
All four legs were left unfilled.
I see this all the time.
Maybe its a good thing for insurance companies to check on workmanship.

Insurance companies have been inspecting repair claims for some time now in the UK. Not so much for quality but to ensure claims for repairs are valid.

Glasseye, I have never heard of one for quality but like you say a few for fraud prevention. I have in the past offered my services as a quality inspector to the insurance industry FOC I have of course had no one take me up on the offer. I will keep trying though.

I dont think they bother in the zero deduct states and never after the repair just a inspection before the claim. Im waiting on Geico to inspect a customer now. :o Im sure tha wait is to weed out the on the spot Carwash and AMPM repairs from companies like Chipio etc. Not really sure that is fair but they do have the right to have a adjuster look at them.

I've never heard of any insurance personnel actually inspecting a windshield prior to repair to verify damage but some are withholding approval for 3 or 4 hours to thwart the Chipio type operations. I do all my repairs mobile. If my customer is close by I delay the repair until approval comes through. On several more distant repairs, I've completed the repair when the customer agreed to say the repair has not been completed when the approval comes through. One customer told the insurance provider that the repair had been completed so the provider refused to approve it and I had to go back and collect cash for the repair.

May I ask how you repaired this repair? Why I ask is because I had a customer just today come to us for the same thing... I turned him down because I wasn't sure how to re-repair it.

Thanks!
