Default Tourist advice

Well I have a bit of good news for all, and some questions relating to it. First the news, you will be without a Canadian presence next week(no silly questions and typical canadian sarcasm), I will be Going to Vegas to repair some windows on a casino that was hit with the latest in grafitti, acid etching on windows, and to demonstrate my scratch removal system to some potential investors( don't worry I will not be working for money) Next the Questions. I want to know your opinions on what a dedicated car freak and race fanatic can do on a week night in Vegas? Not being a fan of gambeling I don't see spending much time in the casino's, Whats the best karting track, auto museums, special attractions(I plan too see the dam, a marvel of engeneering and sheer size that I have only seen on TV and read about), helicopter tours, ect ect . If any of you here live in Vegas I would be honoured too meet you in person if our sceadules can cooncure

Merci

Although I'm a gambler, The only table that I can beat the house consistantly at... is the buffet table. I'd recommend the Rio Suites for their all you can eat buffet. You can also rent exotic cars and harleys for the day. I'd stay on the strip and bring your walking shoes.

I used to be stationed near Vegas (some 20+ years ago) and frequented the casinos. While I can't advise as to places to checkout nifty cars, there are certainly numerous places to checkout headlights

I was just in Vegas for a little get away.

If you are not into gambling, no biggie!! There is more to do there than you can imagine!!!
You can simply spend time just going thru the "casinos" checking out their displays and architecture. They are incredible. You can go to the MGM Grand and check out the Tiger display where they bring 2 cats in and out 2 or 3 times a day. The Bellagio has a GREAT water show outside on the lake. (best at night!) On and On and On.... They all have things to see and do. There are always great shows. If you want to see the most fascinating show EVER, go to see the new Cirque Du Soleil show at the MGM Grand. It is called "KA". It is the reason we went to Vegas. I have traveled MANY, MANY miles across the country and into Canado to see Cirque shows. (7 of them now) "O" at the Bellagio and "Mystere" at Treasure Island are both great shows as well, but KA will just blow your mind!!!!! Getting tickets might be a problem so plan well ahead of time if interested. Last minute, you can probably get into Mystere because it has been there so long. KA and O are sold out MONTHS in advance. As you can tell, I am fascinated by the Cirque.
Anyway, lots to do there. Don't worry about that.

Oh, last but not least... If you are a bit of a daredevil like myself and can handle some major adrenaline rush, head to the end of the strip to the Stratosphere. It is the space needle at the end of the strip. Go to the top and check out their rides. The roller coaster that runs around the edge is just OK. The Big shot ride launches you straight up the needle at the top, VERY fast and then free falls down. Quite the view! They have 2 new rides that just opened. The ride called Scream will hang you about 30 feet off the edge of the tower. (front seat is a MUST) Look to the side and nothing but pavement, 900 feet below!! Last but not least is INSANITY. OMG!!!!! If you plan on riding this, you may want to take an extra set of underwear! VERY intense ride!!

Have fun and you will find plenty to do. Tell the Concierge at your hotel what you like and I am sure they will find just what you want.

Unfortunatly my back will not allow me to race anymore. In the past I have raced in rally,s, solo, DIRT modifieds, Sprint cars, and Formula ford(much like his formula 2000). All were fun rides with there own great thrills. The road race circuits like the DD acedemy are the easiest physicaly, but the most demanding mentaly(reaction time must be exceptionatly fast for actual racing, or else you are an accident waiting to happen). I would reccomend a driving course such as this(I took the Skip Barber course) for everyone, what you learn on the track can save your life. My wife would love to do the couse though, if they have sopace, oit may be possible, now that I can't race she does at the local dirt track where I work as a tech inspector.

Thank you all for the suggestions I will do my best to respect my budget, and to enjoy myself.

Merci
