Hello All,

I thought this would be a good question to get some brainstorming going. There is only catch though...If you post try to be proactive with your corrective attempts or solutions in detail to be implemented for your complaint. New or seasoned alike, we all can benefit from this.

Pay it foward,

Default What is your biggest complaint with the windshield repair industry?

I have a problem with the fact that when people call, needing a windshield repaired, and ask how much, you tell them that most insurance companies will waive your deductable, and pay for your repairs with comprehensive insurance, so it won't cost them a dime, then they say theyd rather not bother their insurance company cause they're scared that if they even call in to ask about repairing a windshield, their ins. comp. might drop them. So then they say they wanna pay cash, then you tell them 30 for the first repair, and 5 for each additional. They say thats too exspensive, and they'll just wait and see if it spreads.

I do mobiles on the side, but I also run a car wash, and ask customers if they'd like to get their windshield fixed while they are at the wash today, and I still get the same thing. 30 dollars is cheap as hell considering what most other places charge. 30 dollars is a hell of a lot better than 300.

Anyone else ever deal with this?

Default complaint

Chiprfxr,

Most insurance companies on the net have a page explaining the windshield repair process. What I would suggest is to have a copy of these pages printed, and show them to people when they come in, or offer to give them the link over the phone. This may put their mind at ease...Just in a couple of minutes, these are the ones I found:

Foremost Insurance Group
State Farm
Progressive
Travelers Insurance

Do you think that might help?

Jeff,

I agree totally and in fact I do this with what information I have been able to aquire so far. I have been trying for a long time to aquire this information from various insurance companies, insurance commision, and various industry agencies with no luck. Here is my most recent attempt, an email I sent to glassbytes that has not recieved any replies to date.

Date 1/2/03 2:39:00 PM
Email contact@glassbytes.com

Subject: Insurance companies policy information on windshield repair

(From an email received by the glassBYTES.com webmaster)

Quote:
I would like to see each individual insurance companies policy information on windshield repair and how their insured benefits from repair. I own a windshield repair company and would like to promote repair. I find that my clients are afraid of premium penalties if bills are submitted to there insurance companies. This information would eliminate this worry and also help hold down the costs associated with unnecessary glass replacement. I have also contacted many many, major insurance companies concerning this on different occasions. I was met with no luck. The only response I received was from State Farm who supplied me with a letter and a brochure. I think this type of information would be very helpful. Comments, suggestions and additional information welcomed.

I am still working on this and preparing a package for this specific problem.

Had a great day yesterday..........14 repairs, all at dealerships.

I found a town that is loaded with dealerships about 1.5 hours from my home.........No windshield repair guys calling on them..........Heading back out to the same town today.

MeleeECI,

It is funny you ask that. I just this week have fired off another round of emails to all the major insurance players for the state I live in(PA). To date, I have only recieved something from State Farm. My respones range from your 1. email has been forwarded to the appropiate department and someone will be contacting you 2. We already have nationwide glass installers/repairers under contract and do not have a need for your services at this time. 3. Give me a call. I really can't see why this information cannot be supplied readily as it will not only benefit their company but there insured and ultimately save them money. I would also benefit from such company specific information as it would show the customer there policy pertaing to windshield repair and satisfy there concerns about there premiums. No luck yet but I am very persistant and will keep at it. I will keep the board posted.
