Rain X question

Does anybody have a way to tell if a windshield has Rain X on it, before doing a repair?

When you drop water onto a windshield that has been "Rain-X'ed", it separates instead of beading. Do this test away from the area you are going to repair.

Acetone will remove rain-x. Alcohol also will dull it enough for you to get good adhesion. Another problem is the wax they use at car washes... you know... the optional sprayed-on wax as the car goes through. That also responds well to acetone or alcohol. Whether you use alcohol or acetone, apply it sparingly to a cotton pad and swab the area surrounding the break. Unless the break occured prior to the application of the wax or rain-x product, it will not be inside the break, so you only need to be concerned with getting the pit filler to adhere.

Another good product to get in my opinion is "E-Z Clean"
I order it from Delta and that stuff will get anything off a windshield and pretty much all you have to do is smear it on and wipe it off
