Default Question

I am considering windshield repair for a new business, part time to start, and if all goes well turn it into a fulltime.I have done some homework on this but you never know. Will some one help me give me some pro's and con's. Do I need to be certified to collect from insurence companys? Thanks

Default new kid in town.

Certification is not a requirement to do windshield repair. Certification would merely be a "selling tool" much as garages claim the technicians are ASTE certified. In layman terms (up to date on current procedures). As for being new, welcome. Yo can search the archives and find almost every question you every wondered about has been ask numerous times and answered. Feel free to ask anything you are not sure about. The pros: Self Employed, Independant, Financial freedom is possible, and I could go on. The cons: Bad weather means days off, competitors doing unscrupolis things ie: price goudging, bad mouthing, steering etc. The end result: If you are determined to make it in this industry, you will. You will have to be good at what you do, be honest and caring. And you will have to be a salesperson. This business requires you to be a great technician, shoody repairs come and go. But you also have to be public oriented and sell yourself and your product. good luck
