Disclaimers

Hi Guys..I'm just starting out doing windshield repairs and was wondering what some of you use in the way of wording for your disclaimers in the RARE event that damage spreads further etc on a windshield that you are repairing to cover your BUTTS...Thanks

Here is my disclaimer word for word on my invoice. Feel free to use it in it's entirety or just a piece.

Waiver: I hereby authorize SGT to repair/operate my vehicle for the purpose of making repairs. I understand my windshield is already broken and SGT shall not be held liable if the windshield becomes unrepairable during the repair process. I realize that the&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp goal of a repair is to restore structural integrity of the windshield and dramatically improve the apprearance and optical clarity.

I hope this helps you out enough to get started. If you need anything else just post.

This is just one example. Essentially, it just says that no matter what happens, the most you will have to do is not charge the customer. It can be redone to fit your writing style of course.

I authorize__________to attempt repair on the chip/crack in my vehicle's windshield. I agree to not hold the repair facility liable should the windshield crack out while attempting this repair, and that there will be no charge for the service if this occurs. Should the repair fail at a later date and the windshield need replacing, I understand that I am responsible fo my deductible at that time. I acknowledge I am responsible for payment or services not covered by my insurance company.

Hello Bullseye windshield repair,

That is also a good concept. It keeps it simple, kind of a disclaimer and warranty in one statement. I realize we are usually dealing under one hundred dollars but I keep my disclaimer and warranty separate for legal purposes however minor they may be. Always CYA. "Cover Your @$$" Just something I have learned after 15 years working for a major airline. Just some food for thought.

Although I do not use a disclaimer, I feel it is very useful. I do think if you use a disclaimer, it should be as short and simple as possible.

It is very rare for additional damage to occur. its only happened to me once in ten years. Problems can be avoided by cooling the windshield down if its hot weather and being extra careful in cold weather. In the times we live in where everybody wants something for nothing, a disclaimer does provide you with some protection.
