How do you all decide what to charge the insurance companys on a repair and is there such a thing as a celing price or one that they won't pay. how many of you who charge top price accually get insurance referals, do you feel they steer from you once they see what you charge!
in windshield replacements they pay a % on the nags list for that particular windshield, and top price they will pay is say 50% so if the shield is 1000 they will pay 500. so what price won't they pay.

Default How do you decide what to charge

Sprinter,

Decide how much you want to make compared to the time and money you are going to invest. Is it enought to pay the bills and live how you want? With those things in mind you should charge based on what you feel your time/service is worth. Be realistic though. I would not base it on what your competition charges but more than likely it will be close. If you get into a price war you will have to comprimise something sooner or later. Maybe resins, tooling, time of repair which all result in poor quality. Which leads to unsatisfied customers and bad word of mouth. Then almost none or no business which equals out of business. You are in business to stay in business. Be confident in your work. A good product deserves a fair price.

As far as a ceiling on pricing goes, well i am sure if you are appraching the cost of a proper replacement you will not be paid. This is if you direct bill. With networks the price is preset and you agree to it on there contract.

As for the networks well I dont use them so i dont get refferals but based on what I know when you sign on with a network you dont get many refferals either and you agree to the price they have set on the contract.

I run my business and set my prices not anyone else.

For Replacement pricing, I dont do replacements on automobiles just aircraft so i dont know about pricing. Sorry.

This is just my outlook. You do what is best for your specific needs.

Pay it foward,

Brian
