repair ONLY guys...
Every chip is different but chances are that you won't be able to make them completely dissapear. Assuming that you put the proper time and attention into each repair (not like some of the 5 minute shops) then you should be able to clear them up substantially, however if there has been any moiature or contamination in it then it will be more difficult to repair cosmetically. I guess the answer to your question is on some star or comb breaks you can't make them dissapear.

I would have to say that stone chip repair is just that, a repair and our primary goal is to restore structural integrity. Secondly to improve the appearance and everyone has there own opinion where customer satisfaction should be placed. Even in a perfect scenario, you will have minor evidence of the break. I can and do appreciate your need for perfection. Try to remember that we are repairing not manufacturing. So with that said if you have done all that you have been trained to do then be comfortable with the results. Know you did the best you could. There are alot of variables that you cannot control that will affect the outcome. So, make sure the variables you can control are not overlooked. I know, not real technical answer but it seemed like you were not happy with your results rather than your skills. is'nt it said that in a combo break you might as well drill it cause you'll open up the insides of the break and it will fill more complete and take less time to fill, theres so much broken glass that a drill hole is the last of your worries.

Combination Breaks
I found that if I take my time and spend just a little more time on a break it usually comes out a lot better...
I was told to use a lighter on the inside of the windshield to heat it up the break. Do not get the break hotter than 100 deg... any higher temp can damage the resins... I use to have the same problem but no more... just be very careful... I dont know about anyone else but it works for me... </p> |
