Hi

I am trying to set my own chip repair business up in the UK - but have come across a problem - I can't seem to find out how to bill insurance companies:

a) there doesnt seem to be a TPA/network in the UK - does anyone know of any?

b) I also, can't seem to discover how to bill UK companies - most mention in the policies that they will pay for chip repair but I can't seem to get contacts in the insurance companies.

any help appreciated!

Default billing insurance companies in UK

Sounds like a question for Screenman....not sure many of us on this forum have a clue how insurance works in the UK  I know I don't.

You could also try finding OpticKleer somewhere in the UK......I'm sure he has the info your looking for. Haven't seen him on this forum in a long time but might try sending him email.

Good Luck!

Hello Guys
yes I am still alive and kicking. Busy as ever and getting busier by the day. In answer to the question about billing UK insurance companies. Yes you can, but not to all. some will pay, some won't. Some require written agreements, some don't. There are lots of foibles regarding the UK insurance market. give me a call and I will try to help you out.
Regards
Eric Howe

Hi Eric

Thanks for the offer....

I am surprised you are open regarding this information as I suppose I would be in competition with Optic Kleer....!

Bullseye
you are no competition for us!. I don't mean that in an arrogant sense, just that there is plenty of work out there for all of us. Where are you based?, Norwich perhaps?.

Hi Eric

Thats good to hear...

so is it just a matter of writing to the head offices stating that I run a windscreen chip repair business and I want to move into insurance work- and ask how/whom I bill for this work? - or is it more time consuming/complicated than that?
