You guys are lucky in the US. In Canada most insurance comps dont pay for chips. They raised the deductable to $300 for a windshield repair. At that price you might as well pay out of pocket rather than submitting a clame on your policy. It is more incentive to have someone fill a chip to prevent a crack out but it would be MUCH easier if it was free ie. insurance job. O well its still been a nice add on to doing dents!

I think a lot of money in windscreen repair is made more by the ability to sell than repair unfortunately.

I can assure everybody here that if I know of any secrets to make money other than hard work I will share it with them.

Other than giving customers names I will answer all questions to the best of my ability.

I think that a lot of techs look for the easy option and miss out on the fleets car lots etc I have cutomers over here that spend at least a £1000.00 per month with me, they took some effort and work to find and even more to sell to but they sure are worth it.

I would rather repair 4 screens in one fleet for £35.00 than one here and there for £40.00.

Use your imagination and develop your area do not just sit down and say you are trying hard . Keep a time management diary and be honest with it you may be suprised at how little you work for the amount you earn.

This may make you hppy or it might show you ways of improveing your time.

Keep posting those questions.

Can you guys give some examples of "fleets" Are you talking trucking companies, police, rental cars. I'm just trying to think of companies that have large numbers of cars on the road. I guess Taxies would be another. Help me get outside the box!
Here in my area there seem to be 2 guys doing the lots. They charge anywhere from $20 to $45 depending on who the customer is ie small lot $20, GM dealer $45. To be competive I set my price (wholesale) at $25. In talking to dealers $30 seem to be their average price. I dont like to think Im bringing down the price of repair, but just trying to be competive. I have now way to know what they charge each dealer. Truth is I like just a flat rate. I feel this way if dealer talk and we know they do, no one feels like he is getting ripped off. I have mainly focused on dealers this far. I have thought about advertizing to the retail market, but have wanted to improve my skill. I have not thought about the fleet. Your thoughts?
Thanks
