Personaly I havn't worked a full 8 hour day in a long time. I average a minumum of 1 per hour when I am going out and doing my cold calling. And that also counts the 20 minutes to a half hour for the repair. I like to make sure the chip looks as good as possible when I am done. Also its so easy when you are doing a repair at a job site to get lots more jobs from that same site by just doing them right. People come out and see the work and are like, WOW, I have to get mine done to. Can you look at it? (Music to my ears)

Dave M,

Your right, simple survey pole but also a pointless one! If there is a point to this survey please feel free to express your thoughts and explain how it might benifit the rest of us? So far I haven't found one.

Say you are looking at gettting into this business and you stumble upon this forum.... which is very common. If you want to find out what the REAL possibilities are you read this and see what peoples replies are. If we make an accurate accounting then people will see the reality of this business.

I live in a small town of 5900 people. I do repair work in addition to Locksmithing. When I first read the post I thought man this would be good information so I can judge what my expectations are compared to what my peers are doing. I think that three insurance jobs a day 5 days a week would be great. It does not matter if it takes 8 hours or 3 hours. In a larger city maybe 5 a day would be better. Personally $150.00 a day and the freedom to do anything I want is a better measure than 8 hours a day. I do not do 3 a day because I also have the lock jobs to do, but I think that those of you that do 14 a day are doing awesome and those of you that do not work that hard and do less you are doing awesome to. As long as you are getting out of your business what you want then you will be successful. A wise man told me one time if you are not making minimum wage then you need to get a job. If you cannot make at least the same then why try? If you are thinking about this business then you need to write down your expectations, ask questions on the forum and then make a logical educated decision. If you expect to jump into this and do 10 repairs a day starting off then you might not have thought it through enough. All of these numbers reflect repeat customers and/or referrals as well as new customers. The referrals and repeat jobs come after you have been doing good work for some time. After 10 years you have an existing client base as well as new ones this will boost you numbers greatly. I am not trying to discourage anyone this is a great business and anyone can do it.

While other than PITA repairs most usually take 30 to 40 min add another 20 for ins. billing call and clean up of equip. That is why i polled between 7-10 , it seems to me though that the real question should be how many repairs do most people average per day i'm thinking that not very many have 7-10 per day (not counting fleet accts ) and I for one am curious as to what the majority of the techs actually do in repairs daily? As for myself it comes in spurts usually more at the first part of the month with few if any toward the end of the month. I'm still in the embryonic stages of building this bussiness and am building a client base, i'm affilated with a local replacement co. which really only amounts to 3-4 repairs per month from them, then whatever i get through referals from previous clients and so far 1 lynx referral also have done a few for 1 trucking co. and one propane co. which will (I HOPE ) be a start on fleet acct's. So far i've steered clear of car lots as in this area they want pay 20.00 per windshield no matter how many repairs are on each one and usually they only have 6-10 likely canidates for repair. so i'm working on some other prospects for this season , any advice would be appreciated! i'm in a growing area so i figure persistance will win out !

I have no idea how many windshield repairs I averaged last year in a week. I only track how many windshields I repair!
