Hi Dave M.

I keep all my tools off the hood of any car. I carry them in a small toolbox. We have no need of multiple injectors. we do carry spares. But 75 to 80% of the repaires we do can be "probe filled". Email me for more info.

Yeah... local slang for repair tool/injector/bridge.... easier to say unit.

I do know what "probe filled" means... and I know that certain chips can indeed be done that way, but you know 75% is way too probe-happy. I think you are addicted. Really.

Better results are usually obtained if you simply use the tools in your box as a habit rather than look for a short cut. I have experimented a lot with what you are doing. I think it's a bad habit although I know it can work. Some here will put you in the firing line for even suggesting the practice... you know that right?

I guess I can do better work than most of my competition without a repair tool... but I don't care to lower my standards based on their incompetence.

One of the things to be careful of when using bonnet covers is to lift them off without dragging them. I used covers for the first couple of years but after having the wind catch them and mark the bonnets I decided against their use. I work from a toolbox on the floor and find that the bending over helps burn off a few more calories per day. Not that I am saying any of you need to lose weight. Getting back to the point I use 3 bridges and tend to work the way Jeremiah does although I think you need to be completely happy using one bridge injector and work you way up to more as you get more experienced.

Dear Glassdoctor:

I enjoyed your response to my mention of "probe filled" repairs. You may be right about my addiction to such, but unfortunately here in Vermont there are no rehab-centers for "windshield probe addiction". As a consequence I'll probably continue "probing about".

One point I did want to make though, is that, inasmuch as probe-filling is, or can be, sometwhat faster, in no way is the end result of the repair any lower in standards. It has to be the same as using all the tools or I would never do it.
