I only had 1 slow experince with A.C.T. I called A.C.T. to file a claim and for some reason the insurance co. (LYNX) sent me the FAX instead of to A.C.T. After a month I called A.C.T. for status and found out that LYNX had received a bad Federal Tax I.D. A.C.T. corrected and I'm still waiting for my check for a repair I did 1/25/05.

Would you still recommend ACT?
For a long-time part-timer, I think ACT makes sense. I'll probably be sending in the paperwork tomorrow to initiate setting up with them.

Default Another Insurance Question

OK I’m on a roll tonight I have to say something on this one.

Everyone gets confused on billing the insurance companies, really it’s simple to do this to their likings they (the insurance companies) are asking you to bill electronically through the networks it saves them ten to fifteen dollars per claim. This is huge dollars when you are talking millions of claims. Sign up with the networks if your serious about this business you need to have insurance, a fax line, all those normal business expenses anyway. You can pay big bucks for the software or use ACT, Glass Comp, Data Tranz etc. personally I think Glass Comp is the best and most affordable for the amount of insurance work I do.

Just call the claims number on the back of all insurance cards let your fingers do the talking get a real person on the phone, hand the phone to the customer with a card with your name and phone number on it. The network doesn’t want to talk to you, they want the customer let them handle it. You will have a fax on your fax machine when you get home or to the office. You fax it along with your Invoice with all the information requested to whomever you chose; usually you will have a check within 30 days.

Don’t get me wrong I would much rather have it like in the old days just send a signed invoice to the claims departments and get your checks it was awesome those were the days. But we were getting $29.95 a repair then, so really which is better? cost of living is a bit higher now than then what’s fare? I say go with the flow myself look for work and you will find it if you think the networks are there to send you work that’s your first mistake. But they won’t stop you from doing work.

Happy Repairing

Brian

I had a situation arise when I was first setting up my insurance contacts/billing AND another one today that I thought I'd pass on to those in the process of setting up their insurance handling/billing.

First, if you sign up with LYNX - State Farm you can not use A.C.T. for State Farm claims. I tried to do this and State Farm Glass Central called me to say it had to be one way or the other - not both. They said their computers can handle only 1 windshield repair business address. So, I don't use A.C.T. if the insurance company is part of the LYNX netowrk.

Second, I have been using A.C.T. for all other insurance companies. Last week, however, I called Safeco direct to file a claim. Everything went OK except the agent read me a wrong FAX nbr. I gave her my correct FAX nbr. and I received the authorization FAX OK. I then sent an e-mail to Safelite asking that they correct my FAX nbr. They called me today to ask if I was not going to use A.C.T. in the future. Apparently, Safelite's system can only have 1 FAX nbr. I told them that I didn't know the names of all the insurance companies that use Safelite so I would still use A.C.T. when unsure. They said I couldn't do that, but that they'd look into the matter and get back with me.

I'm trying to keep as much $ in my pocket and not have to pay A.C.T. even the $7.50 let alone the $14.95. So, keep these in mind when setting up your network contacts.

Try Data-Tranz for invoices through Lynx its only $2.00 per invoice and I think $3.25 for Safelite, but now you can submit invoices on line through Saflite for nothing.
Data -Tranz is easy and they have a tollfree fax for invoices. The # for customer service is 1-800-241-1493. Belive me it is simple to use.
