Hello, I am new to the forum. I’ve repaired windshields for the last 2 years in Arizona & Utah on the side of my main job. This summer I will be moving to Calgary Canada. Just posting to see if there are any technicians doing repairs in Canada that can give me advice about the market up there. Is windshield repair used as much in Canada as in the United States? How do I file insurance claims in Canada? Do Lynx and Safelite service Canadian Claims? Any info that anyone could provide about doing business in Canada would be helpful

Check with Yvan lacroix in quebec. Personally I will be following Yvans template of dissuading customers from useing insurance.People up here are leary of ins' co's because of feared premium increases although I hear that ins' pays better if you don't mind waiting for your money.Oh and you can call Yvan for info as I have found him to be a very friendly guy who seems to be fairly knowledgeable about the bizz.I am useing him as a mentor to set up some of my policies and repair procedures.

Alberta has no comprehensive ins. because stone chips are very common so no glass coverage and i heard the going rate for repairs is around $10. I see an Albertain car and it usually has anywhere from 2to maybe 8 chips on it.

That sounds like a very low price to do a repair $10 Canadian. What's that $6 dollars American? How hard is it to run a successful business there? If you did 20 repairs a day that is not allot of money.

$10???? Sheesh! No, that's definitely not the "going rate" for retail work in Calgary.

I'm from Quebec, $10 does seem awfuly low for a repair, I charge $50 for commercial customers, $75 for private and insurance claims. As for insurance claims i deal directly with the customers insurance company without any problems.
