Default Help! Liability Insurance...need advice

Hello,

I am trying to get my business started and I need advice/info on getting Liability Insurance.

What should I expect for premium cost?
Are there different types of Liability Insurance?
Any insurance co. cheaper than others?
How much Liability Insurance should I get?

I would really appreciate any feedback...I am in the dark with this issue so any information would be so helpful.

Thanks!

-Rudy

I paid $200+ for mine. I believe it is dependent on the area you operate out of. Others have varied as well.

I got my policy through Allstate. I had to talk to about 10 Allstate reps before I found one who knew where to look. Tell them to look under their home based businesses policies. 160 for the year.

I use RLI, as well. Too bad the networks can't take a hint about customer service from RLI. They're Great! Ask for Ashley and tell her Dave sent ya.

Cool Re: Help! Liability Insurance...need advice

Ok... Here is a question. Everyone is SOOO satisfied with RLI, and everyone’s saying that they have best service and all that... But did anyone had a chance to deal with them in a “true life situation”? Like where you were sued or something like that. ‘Cause that’s where the true colors tend to show. You guys know what I mean? Anyone?

You guys make a good point: What happens if you ever have to use your policy? I've got my fingers crossed when I say it's never happened to me. My comments about great service should be taken in that context. Has anybody out there ever had to use their liability insurance in connection with a repair? In 10 years, being in contact with thousands of techs over that time, I've never heard of an instance where a tech had that problem. A search was conducted, by someone I met several years ago, of the www.lexisnexis.com database for any litigation against a windshield repair tech and none was found. It might be a good idea for someone to do that search on a regular basis.

Hmmm...I have given it some thought regarding the claims issue.

It could be that any claims alleging damage during windshield repair might be relegated to small claims court. In addition, lawyers may be reluctant to pursue such a claim due to the small compensation that a court might award.

But we need to have the insurance to register with the networks.
