for a fleet of 2 or more jobs at one location, what are people charging? and at dealerships aprox how many jobs do you get per week?
also, do many of you get a few calls per week for retail from flyers and people seeing your door signs? |

I've always charged $35 for a wholesale job but am considering raising it to $40 or $45. It all depends on the local market but I don't like to get into a price war. My philosophy is that I should always be the highest priced guy in the neighborhood. There has been talk from some of charging a "trip charge" if the repair is at some distance. I like the idea and am asking plumbers, electricians, and so forth what they do.
My flyers and the signs on my truck have always generated a little business. They certainly have paid for themselves.

I got a fleet job today at a large dealership. As I was talking with the fleet manager, he had stated that they do not have anyone doing their repairs at this time... and that they have had some in the past but they were "greedy". He meant that they were charging too much. I originally had made up my mind about doing fleets at $40.00 a chip and more if it is a long crack or somthing that will require more time (mabe $x.xx an inch if it goes longer than 3 inches). But when he said what he did about the greedy repairers I told him $35 a repair and more if its more then just a chip. He liked what i said and told me he had 6-8 that needed chips right now and that i seemed like someone they will be able to count on and use regularly. So, I'm extremely glad to have tagged the dealership but now my question is am i underselling myself? Mabey the greedy guys where charging like $70 a chip? I dont know? I wonder what the fleet manager would have said if i gave him my gut $40?

I think QB will allow several different pricing levels, too.

hey toab.. regarding QB.. i am using QB with mobile laptop.. best investment i ever made was to hire a lady to set me all up and provide training.. she arranged icons and special reports just for me.. trust me it will be money well spent..she also made all my forms custom..that is what she did for a living.. there were several in my area doing that.. check out yours and see if its available...just a thought

Pbaker,
If you're comfortable with $35 for 1st chip repair then stick with it. Don't be greedy and try to out-think what the competition is doing. You may find that the dealer may have 2-3 repairs a week, and he may even refer you to other dealers. They do talk at the auctions, etc. I charge $25/$15/15 for dealers and $30/$15/$15 for fleets. I charge lower for dealers because they're in a profit squeeze plus I also get Headlight Cleaning jobs at $40 a pair. Dale... |

Some guys charge a flat per car IE $35 others $35 for the first car at that location $20 per after its up to you I have one dealer I give him a flat rate walk the lot for example i may see 12 breaks on 8 cars qoute $175 and go to work using 3 bridges im there 1 1/2 hrs and leave with a check in hand seems like not alot for that many breaks but over $100 per hr and I see him 3 times a month other guys you go to and only get 1 repair but they want to see you every week $40 is the magic number there. What im getting to is charge what you can get from each individual customer salesmanship is the name of the game dont just have one flat rate you do this for a living and profit isnt a 4 letter word.
