I ordered a windshild repair kit from www.rockchipkit.com, some one let me know if this is a quality kit. If you have used this kit before what are some of the pros and cons of it. I do PDR but am adding windshield repair. Thanks!!

Seems a little late to be asking if it's a good kit since you already ordered it. At first glance, I don't trust the company for the following reasons:
They are exagerating the income 95% of people make doing repairs It doesn't take less than 30 minutes to learn how to do windshield repair correctly. I don't feel a good repair can be done in less than 10 minutes as they claim. The bridge looks of a lower quality to me. I did a lot of research before I purchased my equipment. I found dozens of sites that were offering equipment, training, advice, etc. I even contacted a few. Even though Delta was probably right up there with the most expensive ones and even though I really didn't have the money for an expensive kit, I decided to go with Delta for the professionalism they showed, both on their site and on the phone. I also took advantage of their free 1 day training and I ended up finding a used Delta Kit that has been perfect for me. Also, their customer service is bar none, THE BEST. JAC |

dentmagic: I have been using a bridge that looks the same as rockchips for about 9 yrs and it does an excellent quality repair. I have done repairs under 10 mins but not many.Most take about 15mins. Its also great for long crack repairs. To me i think you made a good choice

When I first got started doing this a few years back, I did all my repairs with the same style bridge. May have even been the same, I don't know.
As you will here from plenty of people here, practice, practice and practice more with your setup before going out for business. It is time well invested in that you will get to know and understand how you and your equipment work together and the limitations of both. I did this and still try to do this by going out to a junkyard, get permission first, and finding the the worst possible repairable damage and attempting to repair it. I learn alot that way because often times the windshields are very dirty, the damage can vary from minor to something that could almost be a replacement. You also don't have to worry about breaking a customers windshield, you can use little or lots of stem pressure. I've even gone as far as to see how much pressure a windshield can take from the injection and flexing process before it will crack. Another benefit is learning how to drill and pop mini bullseyes. It's a great place to hone your touch. What other place can you either completely destroy a windshield or save it all together and no one gives a f? I will say though that having used both setups, the DKI setup is far superior as far as stability, ease of us and maneuverabilty is concerned IMO. Best of luck and keep us posted how things go.

Thanks for the replys. I will keep you informed as to how things are going. I am really excited about the potential I have with by biz by adding windshield repair. I will more than likely bug you guys with lots of dumb questions in the future. Thanks in advance for your help in helping me get my biz going.

I also have been doing repairs for five years, certified with Delta and Glas-Weld, speciliaze in expensive motorhome windshields. Possibly somewhere along the line some of us have missed the boat.
If you can do a perfect repair on w/s's just coming out of a wet environment without doing any drying we all need to take lessons from you.
