Just remembe that whatever company you go with you will probably need tech support every once in a while, especially in the beginning. so think about that when deciding

That is like a mechanic asking " what are the best tools for being a mechanic ...maaco or craftsman?". It's a good question but the main part of being a good repairman is your training. Find either an individual or "school" to train you. If you can get both (tools and training) from the same place that would be optimal.
Good luck.

Good luck jbrock70,

I am in my 4th year on windshield repair and have been a Vinyl repair tech since 1982 (in business for myself), in the automotive field since the early seventies. I find it interesting that no one has suggested Delta's equipment in this thread yet?... after all they have the most user friendly equipment for the beginner available, reasonably priced, and they even will train at no cost to you.(excluding transportation and lodging)

When I began this migration to windshield repair from Vinyl repair and upholstery I bought delta gear and PAID for training in Eugene. I have to say it was a very good choice. I have since purchased a few other types of gear, I find I like different gear for different kinds of work, vertical vs slanted and fleet vs personal, etc..

Bottom line jbrock70 delta is a good choice for the beginner and if you do well than you can always try other stuff as you go. Whatever your choice, good luck and happy sales. Scott

My first kit was DK. The greatest advantage was the shortness of the learning curve. This forum was also of great help, in all aspects, from motivational to technical advices from the experienced professionals. DK allowed me to be on the street selling and doing the work in a very short period of time. I now use DK and GM. Both have positive aspects.
