Default Liability insurance at $500,000

I heard you had to get liability insurance valued at $500,000 before you can be put on the insurance companies lists. What is that all about and how do you go about doing it? Is is expensive?

Yes Lynx requires at least $500,000 and it isn't very expensive. I got mine from statefarm for under $30.00 a month for $1,000,000 coverage. There may be cheaper out I didn't even check because that is my auto insurance company.

You guys get off easy, over here we have to have a minimum of £3,000,000 and in some cases £5,000,000 liability cover.

Screenman,
Why such a high limit? Possible accident liability for the repaired vehicle?

I suppose its in case someone trips over our tool box and falls on the switched on uv lamp and it causes untold skin damage along with an unsightly square burn that never goes away and he cannot live with it any longer so he jumps off a tall building, which the screen man had just unfortunately set on fire ,with his high speed 12 volt electric carbon tipped drill. Thus leaving a wife and 17 children behind to claim off us.

In other words I have not got a clue

Could it be that while you are repairing a windshield you might accidentally slam the door on a muslim?
