rockaway.. just keep in mind that a lot of discussion is coming from seasoned veterans.. you are new..i agree with mafsu.. and boyd has a point..everybody is different...but you are not going to impress anybody with your repair..these managers have seen dozens of new guys showing their stuff..most dont even go outside to look.. they send out a salesman who doesnt know anything .. or will just placate you for the free repair..remember you dont actually have an account till they actually give you work

I find that most used car department managers are too busy to even come out and check the "free repair" you did for them. Will it get your foot in the door? Yes. But it will not neccessarily show the quality of your work.
If it ultimately gets you work. Then go for it. But if it works that easy for you, then it will also work that easy for your competition. Just my 2 cents. -Jeff

I know this subject has been beat to death. But, I want to share...
Yesterday I received a call from a used car lot manager (not the owner) asking if I'd come and give them a demo. [I've been trying to get this account for 5 months.] I said yes even though it was 35 miles away. I figured one of the salesmen got a rock chip on their personal car or a customer complained about a chip on a purchased vehicle. Anyhow, I drove down and repaired a bullseye. It turned out perfect. I left the lot after repairing another 5 chips on 3 vehicles. Was the free demo worth it? It was this time. Dale... |
