i am assuming that the pit was average when you started your repair..what kind of break??..dont you carry pit filler??how long have you been doing repairs??.okay so as you finished and were scraping off chemical..the razor caught on the glass and pulled out a bigger piece??now the pit is very large??pit filler will probably have to be done several times and then polish it up..that would be all that i would do for them..if they are not happy maybe give some kind of discount or free repair.boy i hate saying that..last resort

MrChip is right sometimes you may have to pit fill more than once to make it smooth and level with surface. You need to use some pit filler or I think I have heard of some just using more resin with a cure tab. I guess it is possible to have an extra chip that was loose on the edge come off. I have had similar things happen

Rich in my honest opinion you are not ready to go out and work yet, please for all our sakes do some more practise. People should only be asking questions like this post when they are doing practise repairs not paying work. JMHO

Screenman you maybe right about practice. I have been doing chips since 1999. I am in a rural area I cover about 40 miles and have about 17 towns. Mytotal population is probably less than 25,000 people. I have done around 1700 repairs. This was the first time I had to worry about a pit to fill. Thats why I asked for help. Sorry to up set someone who has never made a mistake. Rich

Eh rich39..when you say that you cover 40 miles and 17 towns does thatmean that you do all the fleets and dealers or do you just do the retail calls. If you do them all and don't have compitition than I'd say that you've got it made pretty good there.Enjoy yourself.

Screenman I only have been doing Ins. calls. The body shops and the smaller dealers have been tied up with the 5 glass shops around here. The economy around here very low end of pay scale. I am retired and the ins. calls were enough extra money for me. If some one had a pit on the shield I didn't do them. This was a first for me that I caused. Sorry Rich

First it's hard to believe someone who has done 1700 repairs has never had a piece of loose glass come off the edge of a pit. I don't think you caused it. This is not totally uncommon. The pit on all stars and bullseyes should be cleaned, either with a pick or a drill. This would reveal loose glass. Do you fill the pit on stars and bullseyes when you fill them?
