Repair them all the time. Legality may depend on where you are.

I have done it a couple of times and was told it was up the owner. If the job was sent my and insurance company there may be an issue if something were to happen due to the damage not looking good directly in there view. Not 100% on that but am pretty sure of it.

If I did not repair in this area my income would drop and the amount of screens replaced go up.

I always tell the customer the issue first-- like how it will still be vissably noticeable beings it is directly in the driver's line of sight. And let them know that it is up to them to decide if they want to procede repair. So far, nobody has turned me down because of this issue. But personally, I would feel a lot better about being turned down from a repair than to have a dissapointed customer.

I was called from a local replacement company the other day; I wanted to see what they were telling people about windshield repair instead of replacement. I was told that repairing a damaged windshield in the left side (driver’s side) could cause the driver to lose sight of the road and other vehicles if the sun hit the repair just right. Therefore, they would have to replace the entire windshield if there was any damage to the left side of the windshield. When I told him what I did for a living and the information was misleading, he starting back peddling, sighting insurance requirements and then ended the phone call by hanging up.
