Talking Car dealers?

Hello,
I have been trying to get some dealer work lately and find that there is someone that is doing most of the large dealers in my closest town and has been for about 10 years. I have heard from a couple dealers that he is a little ( iffy ) meaning not the most reliable. Each lot I looked at had at least 3 repairable chips. Should I find out when this guy comes thru if he has a certain day and go on a different day. Could there be so many that he can't keep up with them. If so do you know of dealers that use more than one repair guy? This guy is from a well know franchise so it seems his work would be good.

thanks
Jeff

if your comp is iffy then make yourself reliable just keep going back and ask to do the repairs...if they see you faithfull and the chips arnt getting done i"m sure they will let you in.. ...by the way some dealers have a couple of guys doing repairs..they want flexibility..if they call and you cant come they will call other..bottom line they want repair done and don't really care who does it

Just walk the lot make a list and go inside. Tell the used car mgr what you saw and how much to fix them on the spot. I have a couple lots that use 2 guys it keeps everyone honest and anxios to do a good job to earn that next time. Try picking up an aditional offering that the other guy doesnt do myself I do paint chip and scratch repair others do pdr or interior repair figure out what is needed in your area and go with it when you have something they need its easier to get the buisness

I agree with mrchip and would keep going back until I was run off or got the account. I got one of my better accounts after being told no for about 2 months. They finally saw I was dependable and got the chance and have had the account for 7 years now. I finally asked them after a few trips just when their guy came by as I had the same car on my list to repair for 4 weeks.

I have been to several and seems each time I hit the day the manager was at the auction LOL I walked the lot and seen repairs needing to be done. They guys there said they would let me do them but of course couldn't with out managers OK. I had planned on going back and gonna do like you say and keep an eye on the same cars not being repaired. I think I have a good chance of slipping in with most of the dealers around. Thanks for the ideas

Jeff

I primarily focus on dealers. i found if you just keep trying showing up and walking the lot write up cars that you see and keep tring to get the repair aproved .and let them know you do good work and can be flexable. and if they need a demo do one it just mite get you in and all ways be nice and polite. rember you are a master at repairing windshields that is a skill most people cant do. they need you

Would car dealerships be a cash account or would they be insurance transaction?

Onsite,

Most A or B lots will issue a P.O. # for services and will normally send out check within 30-40 days. C lots, which are mom and pop used car operations will usually cut you a check same day.

You may at times have a dealer asking you to bill customers insurance on either a trade in or lease turn in.

Be careful about billing ins. for a customer that purchased a vehicle with break already in the w/s. (insurance fraud)

thanks starqwest those were questions I was gonna ask the two dealers i work for now are mom and pop so they cut check that same day. One dealer supposedly has many dealer friends in surrounding areas with large lots. She said they were discussing chips the day before I came in for the first time. They all have many chips with no one repairing them Hope she spreads the word for me then I will follow up with personal appearance.
