Hi everyone I have been doing repairs for awhile now and just joined this great forum finally. I have been reading all the great posts and also the great responses. There is alot of knowledge here and I'm glad to be apart of it. Now to get to the question this is a hard one to name the repairman of the year because there are alot of good ones here but I'm sure whoever gets it, it will be well earned. Good luck to whoever gets it.

My nomination would be Eric Howe of Optic-Kleer. If anyone spent just 10 minutes with the man they would know why. My life would be dramatically different if I had have meet him 3 years ago. He left such an impression on me that my next child will be named after him!

I have been reviewing this forum for a few years. Keeping in mind that Delta wants a real tech nominated this year, I strongly recommend Screenman. He works a different environment in that moisture is a constant problem in the UK. Not only that but he contributes to this forum as well as others. Not to slight Ivan in the least, I will support him for next year. Just my thoughts,
Layne

If not already honoured, my vote would go to Colin Edgar the ex head of Novus in the UK, without whom we would not be in business nor many others in the UK. He helped set the standards with the BSi that Delta took (and Autoglass failed first time round) and prevented Autoglass getting windscreen repairs banned in the wiper sweep in the UK.(!) Had this precedent been set here think of how it may have been replicated throughout the rest of the world. He also set the standard for MOT testing with the DVLA which gave everyone a lasting revenue stream. Not always liked at the time but a shrewd man who you definately wanted on your side.

I nominate Screenman because he always has good ideas and suggestions.
He is a fountain of windshield repair knowledge. Last edited by Mr Bill : 09-20-2007 at 01:33 PM. Reason: Spelling correction |

I agree many Colin was the man in the UK in the eighties and early nineties. I would like to know what he is up to now. Maybe we should mention Duncan Boreham without him Novus would not have had an idea how to handle some of the problems of the time. How about Brent for maintaining this great forum.

colin has a horse spa business in N I and seems to be doing quite well with it. Would have no problem with any of the others suggested. Duncan was a whizz with the scratch gear certainly. I bought all his stock when he retired.

I really hope the award will go to a practicing technician in 2008. I am looking to nominate someone that has a strong business model, puts quality first, has a high ethical standard, and hopefully provides regular assistance to others on the forum. There have been several good suggestions so far. Along with my nomination I plan to send all of the other comments in this thread, so please keep them coming.
My vote counts for no more than yours, so I encourage all of you to send in your nominations as well. Contact Kevin Halewood at Mobile Tech News for a nomination form, and return it before December 31, 2007. Kevin's number is 727-531-7885.
