Default Insurance Coverage

I have always bought my business insurance from a local insurance provider and I have resently found an affordable insurance provider that gives you the same coverage at less than half the price.

Has anyone used RLI Insurance? And what do you think of it?

I think RLI is great. This is another post I made a week or so ago:

This month I tried to find affordable liability insurance locally... I found out it is not possible until I read Brent's post about RLI. Local agents wanted 700-1000 for a $500,000 policy. RLI has given me a million dollar policy for $207 per year. What an awesome deal!!! Now RLI will sell direct without having to find a local insurance broker.
Here is thier info:

RLI is the place I went to for mine. 500,000 coverage for 167.00 a year in my city...

I shopped around and by far they have been the best.

But remember, they do not cover windshields you might have to replace...

They only give you the liability for 500,000 and tool coverage up to 5,000

Smile Re: Insurance Coverage

I have RLI coverage and it's satisfied most vendors liabilty needs on repair only.

When I tried to obtain liability coverage from them on a commercial glass polishing job, they responded "no can do". So I had to go elsewhere at a much higher rate.

Why are they so cheap? Probably because they very seldom if ever have to pay claims on repair only policy's. So.....when we all send them our $200-$250, it's cash in the bank for them. If somebody on here has ever had to file a claim with RLI on this forum I'd love to hear some feedback as to how it was handled.

For now I look at RLI as a paper tiger. No doubt about it....they are the cheapest in the market but if just one major claim hits them, don't be surprised if rates change.

JMHO!

That's what my concern is.
But if I use RLI It puts about $500 or $600 back in my pocket that Iam currently paying for coverage.

WHAT NEEDS TO BE KNOWN ABOUT RLI INSURANCE

THEY DO NOT COVER ANY DAMAGE YOU MAY CAUSE TO THE CUSTOMERS VEHICLE OR PROPERTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This whole concept is beyond absurd!!!!!!

THEY CHARGE 25.00 EACH FOR "ADDITIONAL INSURED" CERTIFICATES!!!!!!

I have 12 fleet accounts that require these certificates, at 25.00 each, that comes to 300.00 plus the 215.00 basic rate comes to 515.00.
FOR NO REAL COVERAGE, MIND YOU
So, who in their right mind wants to go out and work on someone's vehicle with no protection?

But, knowing that the networks and fleet accounts require these, do they really know that you are on their property, working on their vehicles with no financial responsibility, should anything go wrong??????

So, if you truly care about being covered for damages and liability, you need a policy that will cover you!!!!!

I have a commercial policy from SAFECO for 500.00 per year for 1 million in general liability with Garage Keepers, which means I'm covered when driving the customers cars. AND, my damage deductible is 300.00 if I cause any damage to theirs cars or property.

They will send as many "additional insured certificates" as you need.

If I understand correctly, you have to be sued by a customer (or 3rd party) and loose the suit in court before RLI will cover damages.
