Mr Bill, everything would look much cheaper if the exchange rate wasnt the $2 to a pound that it is today.
The 17.5%VAT is included in the price of all products, it isnt added on at the register. Unfortunatly we are comparing apples and oranges, Every state in The USA is like its own little country each with its own set of regulations and taxes, Home prices vary like you say, and it does in the Uk too, London is more expensive than Lincoln. To truly compare you have to include Taxes, and Insurance not just consumer goods. |

screenman: looks to me like you make 2x the money on repairs, but the cost of living examples you listed are also about 2x what they are here.
Housing varies of course but a new 5 bed house in a nice area in most cities here would be 250-400K Steak and a couple beers $25 Petrol $3/gallon Auto Ins $100/month for good coverage on a nice new car w/clean record |
