Dr Chipster, Are you able to answer your cell phone during your reg jobs work hours.That would be a major plus. Most people want their w/s repaired yesterday. They like to get a warm body on the other end of the phone, not a message that you will call back. If you miss the call they'll call someone else. At least you should get back to them within the hour. Also, try hooking up with a replacemet shop that does not do repairs. This has worked for me. Good Luck !!!

I was recently in Albuquerque and noticed several tent guys working which im sure means you will have a great deal of competition. First dont let competition discorage you there is plenty work for everyone but that said be assured that it is unlikly you can just walk in and get the buisness at Car Dealerships they are the first places everyone goes to and thus harder to get and keep and the easy ones to get are also the easy ones to lose I would work on the smaller fleets they are often ignored and will give you a chance to rk on your approach as wel as your acual repair ability if you can sell great if not get some practice and buy a couple books and tapes Salesmanship is all important!

My phone is always on. I do have the ability to answer it even when I am at work. I bought some vinyl lettering at Hobby Lobby and advertise (WINSHIELD REPAIR + my phone number), I have received a few calls from it so far but the calls have been for replacement jobs.
I have decided that I also need to post my business name on my van because my potential customers don't know who they are talking to. That I guess is my project for saturday morning.
I worked on printing some sales aids last night and I will be going out this week to cold call on a few businesses.

Hey Dr Chipster, Good Idea about the company name on the side of your van. People want to know that they are talking to someone with an actual business, not some fly by nighter. Especially if you offer a lifetime guarantee!!! A lifetime guarantee is only as good for as long as the business is alive!!! (and the Owner!!! ) Put yourself in the customers shoes. Would you call the number on the side of an unmarked van to have your windshield repaired????? Also, it's good you can answer your phone during your workday. Good Luck!
