Woa! That's weird!

Hi guys, i've been away from the forum for a while. Thought I would check back in and see what's been going on.

I had the weirdest thing happen during a repair the other day. It was a pretty narly big combination break. I was repairing it under my bubble dome. The repair went along as usual... resin was filling in nicely. I turned my back to grab my clipboard and start to write up the invoice. A minute later I check the repair and noticed that it had already filled in extremely well... so well in fact that you could not see a "ghost" or hair line left over even when looking at it from all directions.

I curred under pressure, then removed the bridge, and applied and curred pit filler as usual. After curing, I scraped the pit filler down and I could not believe that even the pit was completely gone! I mean I do repairs that turn out so nice that even the customer cannot find where it use to be, but man this one turned out like brand new glass with no pit, and absolutely no sign of there ever being a chip or even a microscopic nick! Guys, this repair was better than you can imagine... it was unbelievable... in fact, it was so good,... it was kinda weird. I thought about calling my customer and jokingly tell him that the break repair turned out so good that I'm going to have to charge him for a new windshield because I can't even find the repaired damage.

... Then I went to double check from inside the vehicle and that's when I felt like an absolute idiot! I quickly realized that while my back was turned and I was filling out the invoice, my bubble dome had come loose and slipped down the windshield - hitting and sliding my bridge and injector assy down the glass about 5 inches. So basically, I spent most of my time curing and finishing a repair that was never there in the first place! I of course had to re-work the actual break (located 5-inches up) and repair it again - and it turned out quite nice.

That was just one of those things that made me say "Woa!... That's weird!"

How about making a list for a car dealer, getting the job approved, performing the repair, feeling real good about how it all but disappeared, then just as I was scraping and gloating, looking up to see a 10 in. crack running mostly through the tint I hadn't noticed before. That's my embarassing story from last summer.

Jayjaque, of all the stupid things to do fancy repairing a damage without checking the rest of the windshield you should be ashamed of yourself. Me, well I have done the same thing at least 3 times maybe more that I do not know about. I have also on many occasions told the customer there is a small damage on the windshield only for them to inform me I need to look a bit closer as they did not realise really long cracks on car shields were repairable.

Apart from these couple of lacks of concentration I am almost perfect, least that is what I keep telling the wife.
