Just because it will not work for some doent mean it will not work for others. Some are just more talented in sales and some are more talented at making excuses why it wont work...................................

I agree with you on that, what is happening, I am agreeing with everyone on here today. Must be getting soft in my old age.

Some are more talented in sales and some are more talented at thinking they know someone else abilities or circumstances better than they do!

Sales ability falls in varying degrees. Effective sales tecniques have dozens of variables depending on the situation and the people involved. Sometimes a very forward approach works. Sometimes it takes being more low-key. Good salesmen know how to recognize what it takes with the particular person they are dealing with and adjust accordingly.

As somebody once said on this forum. Never sell a repair to a stranger make them a friend first.
Well said!
Indeed, learning the art of instant rapport and then adding to that humor, I can sell anything. When, not if,I repair glass in minutes and build rapport instantly, the dynamics of compounding takes place.
People want to connect and be entertained, not sold, the selling will follow.
My selling post was NOT MY THEORY, rather MY EXPERIENCE, you have to know how to READ and FEEL the people and meet them at there level not my level. It's Fluid and ever changing from person to person and I need to constantly adjust.

People come for the show! They want to be entertained and will buy from someone that entertains them too.If you walk into any stop and ask"what do you have for me?" the answer is usually nothing.............but by building rapport(I call it being a camelion) and having "personality" and the will to overcome the many negatives we all experience on a dayly basis is what separates the "gee.I cant get much work."to the people that are always busy. Most techs in any mobile field are their worst enemy.Any time you tell yourself "it wont work here" there are people doing it and making it pay $$$$ just around your corner. One of the best sayings I have ever seen is "Close your mouth and open your mind!" Alot of people convince theirselves why it "wont work" instead of concentrating on "why it will work" .thats what seperates the winners from the whinners.............................Winner or Whinner....your choice!!

HarrellBenjamin, that reminds me of a guy I saw doing a demonstration in Costco, I think it was Christmas before last. A young guy, maybe 25, but as smooth as smooth can be. It was just a blender thing that you could put all different kinds of ingredients to create your own smoothies. Not exactly a new concept at all, but the guy was so entertaining, he had a crowd of 50 or more people around him. His humour and smoothness I would've paid to see. And yep they were scooping up the product to purchase. So I guess that's the lesson. You can sell anything with the right mojo!

Yea I bought some "super"knives from the same guy I think too LOL.It just makes me laugh when I see good salemen giving out real world tips and the negative responces they receive on this forum from techs convinced that it can not work in their area.Their area is the same as any others are its just the saleman thats different.Too bad ,as alot of them just need to fine tune their head for success too.It was real interesting being in the car business for years and watching a new salesman that did it different from the established crew and them all saying"that stuff wont cut it here!"as they consistantly outsold the rest. The only time that their sales started to suffer is when they started getting advise from the "experts" LOL.When they were new they had no concept of failure but were "retaught" by the experienced crew...........No different in this field too.Stop learning and trying new things and you will only get so far while wondering"how does that other guy do it"?? That just wont work here!!!!!!!!!!!!!................................

Let's get away from the sales techniques for a minute and get back to the five minute repair! This has been discussed over and over , I know. I'd have to agree with Splitpit. Even our moderator has stated that it should take 5 minutes for curing. I use a timer and cure with a dual tube for 4 minutes!

Wow, you are absoloutely right harrellben, I'm absolutely sure the other techs in my area are wondering how I stay so succesful! If they could just open their minds and learn to sell like I do instead of getting their advice from the "experts" they could reap the rewards that I do. Those other guys just need to fine tune their heads for success. Thank you for pointing out to me why I'm doing so much better than the other guy!
