116 dealerships a week? How did you find time to do the repairs?

12-14 hours a day, 6 days a week.. Thus why I had a MAJOR change of heart concerning "my time".. And no, it probably would not work for everyone.. But, it does for me.. And, yes even 84 on a weekly basis is tough here in the northeast.. Frost burn off time is 10-11am, gets dark @ 4:30pm.. Makes you hustle, miss lunch, and just say the friendly cordial hello, hows the wife or staying busy lines.. No chit chat for 30 minutes.. no time.. I personally think that my accounts admire the "hustle" ability.. They know, when I pull onto the lot, its no nonsense, get the work done and get out of their way. Now, I only work 5 days a week, never on weekends.. And on rain days, they know if they do not call me before 10am, not to plan on it being done that day..I make myself available on rain days to do any and al work as long as i am aware of it before 10AM But if it isn't scheduled, after 10 is my time, haircut, paperwork, banking, knocking on doors for more work etc.. Whatever they may have can wait to be scheduled for the next time i am available.

Dave M,

I was kind of wondering the same but to be fair, he didn't say how many of the 84-116 dealerships had repairs....he only stated he serviced that many!

LOL.. yeah, I'd be retired if all of them had even just one repair per week for the last 16 years.. Usually averages out to 50% has work this week, the other 50% has work next week, and then sometimes it seems like everyone has work just to screw up your day..

I worked it out to were most of my accounts will call me for work. I will walk 3 lots now only, the reast of the accounts walk there own trucks as they come in. I give them a small break in price to save me the time.

I am an amputee and I have walked the lots for 17 years and wore out 6 legs from walking the lots and working around the house. The State use to pay for my legs to keep me off disability through VOC Rehab, but 3 years ago the stopped paying for them. and at 8 - 10 g's it is not cost afective to buy them every 2 years as they told me, so I talked with my accounts and to make a leg last longer they would have to walk my beat and I will will give them a price break.

My accounts I have now are loyal to me, even with other lot lizzerds trying to hit up on them being cheeper than me. All the mgr's tell them is you may be cheeper but you are not better... It makes you feel good inside for that.

6 legs.. And my wife thought I was crazy for saying my shoes were wore out every 4 months.. Yeah they looked new on top, but the comfort zone has left the building.. Well, as long as i have my health where I can, I walk the lots.. But, I refuse to squeegy, or rake snow.. Bring out the salespeeps for that job..

I just got on my wifes new work policy and they will insur me but not my leg for 1 year. Thank god I have backup parts now from the old leggs. Right now it is the liners that hold my leg on that wear out. 3 - 4 a year as 650 a peice.
