My comments were not directed at just this post but rather a general overall point. Someone new shows up and some tend to go out of thier way to be harsh this happens a lot here. Some folks come here and imeadiatly leave and its my opinion that sometimes this is harmful overall to our buisness. The stated goal here is to exchange ideas and learn from others not to partake in petty and snide comments. Positive attitudes will allways make more $ negativity breeds failure. Many of the old regulars have left Squirrel is a perfect example of the way things should be here I remember when he arrived full of questions open minded and willing to listen. He went and trained with Dave Coit added his own touch and ended up a valuable contributor here who earns his living at this and shares his knowledge freely. One has to wonder if the current attitude and negative tilt existed back then would he have stuck around?

Will one of you please highlight where, if it was me I went wrong, if it was not me perhaps you can explain things. I am more than willing to learn and can take constructive critism. I can see no negative in the past posts just pure kick in the butt get going and you will get the rewards type encouragement.

When I first cut my teeth on windshields, going to a forum was the last thing on my mind.. I learned the old fashioned way, get out and do it. Sure, these type forums are helpful. To an extent. But, I feel they do just as much harm as good. Take a look around you.. Go ahead.. Kids today, do not have the drive, or the will to learn anything on their own.. My proof is. When we were kids, did we have computers, ipods, mp3 players, any electronic games? No... We learned to make due with what we had.. We had creativity, we could make a game out of anything. Especially outdoors.. Peeps today, lack their own creativity and the desire to make it work. Ok, maybe not all of them.. But, so many times the SEARCH function is to difficult for them to understand. So, they post another beat down wore out question, and get all butt hurt when we tell it like it is.. Hey, anybody.. Name one magazine that advertises "you can make $100,000 a year doing windshield repair".. Now, name the magazine that will back that up in writing with a guarantee.. Yeah, thought so.. You can make $100k doing anything if you pour your heart and soul into it and work it like there is no tomorrow. Am I harsh, to the newbies, yes, sometimes I am... I admit it, but I too have seen way too many half arsed repairs because they learned from asking 20 questions on the internet instead of getting training and practicing on their own.. And, I'm not bustin on this kid but its going to sound that way. If you had $800 in your pocket do you rush out and buy the first deal you find in the price range or do you research it to see if it will fit your needs and find one that does... Even with the internet, it seems more and more people get lazier and think if they can spell windshield correctly they should get the $100k paycheck.. So, Screenman. Hey, its all good.. Don't sweat it.

I agree that alot of the same questions come up and it its frustrating but to answer the post with "Welcome to our board if you look thru our archives using the search function you will find alot of useful info on this subject aging god luck and welcome."
Instead of the negative stuff we tend to see Screenman I agree you really wernt that bad on this one but lets face it with the WR Repairman of the year we should expect some Master Teacher advice not a slap down with aclaim comes resposibility take a couple new guys under your wing share some of the vast knowledge and tried and tru methods you use to help someone succeed rather than fail(the ones that brought the people in the industry to recognise you as a Master of the field and Award you for it) It used to be we had guys like Dave Coit here who were always positive and up who made the new folks feel like they had a chance and helped others without a bit of negativity Geez I feel like a geezer sittn round wishin for the Good Ole Days LOL |

As a newbie to the forum, but not a newbie to windshield repair, I have viewed the forum for quite some time as a visitor. I still say that Brent has mastered the art of human relations and that we all could learn from his way of treating others. Good advice, thoughtful instruction, and knowledgeable insight CAN be passed along in a positive manner.
