High shipping rates?

Man I am not usually one to complain about cost except gas,, but it cost me $10.90 to ship 1 15ml bottle of resin today,, I thought glasweld was the only one. They charge me 11.00 to ship 7.00 worth of seals. Sorry but that is just crazy I sold on ebay for years and know this is just not normal. Sorry for the ranting but man $10.90 and then have to wait 5 business days LOL is insane. I love delta kits except for that LOL

Add that to the price of the resin and it will cost you about 35 cents per job now that is good value in terms of profit, . You will be suprised how much when you cost it properly things like packaging, labour, etc. cost. When most of us do Fleabay we do not add these things together properly.Also some couriers have a minimum price. Would it work out cheaper to drive over and get it. In all honesty I know where you are coming from but I do not feel that it is Delta fault, maybe next time order a larger amount and this will spread the cost over a greater volume of resin making your cost per repair even cheaper. Although you cannot save much on 35 cents. Try living over here with fuel at $10 per gallon each time I get a delivery it feels like I have paid off the national debt.

I know what your saying screenman and would hate to pay those gas prices for sure. I just know that it can eaily be shipped for under $4.00 with 3 day shipping unless your not allowed to send resin in US mail. Sorry Delta for complaining just needed to vent, money is tight right now I would have ordered two bottles but could not fit it into budget

When you order, you need to order more than one item, so that the average shipping cost per item is less.

most of the time the shipping has a flat rate on shipping. When I order I what for GT to have a sale like buy two get one, and stock up on everything. They have a flat fee on the order and that justifys my price to me.....
Them onese and twoses on an order just is not going to cut it. Stock up, you will need it in time.

8-12 bucks seems to me the norm everywhere just the cost of doing buisness I choose to complain about gas prices instead or taxes or the weather oh hell I just complain

I agree with you that the shipping charges have gotten quite absurd, but the fuel surcharge changes every day and on small orders we simply cannot afford to eat the ever rising shipping charges. If it makes you feel any better the shipping cost for our incoming orders is increasing at the same rate our outgoing shipping is increasing. We simply have no control over that. This week I heard that its costs about $1000 to fill a semi now.

Actually Priority Mail is $4.60 which "usually" arrives within 3 days but is not guaranteed and is not insured against loss or breakage. Since we don't ship enough US mail for a daily pickup we have to send someone to the post office to drop it off. If you add in insurance, pay for the delivery confirmation, pay for our fuel to drive to the post office, and pay for my employees wages to make the trip, the price is now about $15. We do have customers who request standard priority mail, and we are happy to send it that way, but if you don't want the insurance and delivery confirmation you will have to accept responsibility if the package is lost or damaged. Customers always agree to that and then typically get very upset if we don't cover the loss expense out of our pocket when something happens.

Still, if that is your preference and you are willing to accept the responsibility, simply call in your orders and specify how you want your package shipped. I will also say that while more and more customers order from the Delta Kits website, the shipping calculations are not always 100% accurate. We try to catch any inaccuracies and correct them prior to shipment if the actual cost is lower, but some, especially if they are close, slip through. If the website estimate is lower than the actual shipping rate we typically do not make an adjustment, so often times customers get a deal on shipping.

We are in the process of updating the shopping cart on the website, so hopefully the estimates will estimates will be more accurate, and few if any will be higher than actual, but unfortunately the only way to get a 100% accurate shipping cost and compare rates for various different services is to call in the order.

We have looked at flat rate shipping, and even free shipping, but I can guarantee you that companies who offer these services build a little extra profit into each product to cover the shipping, packaging, etc. In most cases flat rate shipping is more expensive for smaller orders to encourage larger orders. This is not a bad idea, but generally does little to help those that only want a pack of injector seals or a bottle of resin.

We had a customer order a couple of adjustment screw tips yesterday and the shipping was considerably more than the product. It makes me sick when I see that, but I'm not sure what to do about it. We won't be around long if we start selling product below our cost. Sorry about that!

I certainly do not how you have set up and run your business, but hopefully you are writting off your business exspenses. I know that does not make the initial shipping shock any less aggravating but it is something. Screenman commented about profit margin. Perhaps you might want to sit down and factor in everything that goes into each repair, everything, not just supplies and then you will see you true profit per repair. Hopefully you are making money at the end of the day.

We all can sypathize with your fustration as it is impact each and everyone of us. If it makes you feel any better, you are not alone. Keep your head up and keep pushing forward.

The point I was trying to make unsuccesfully it seems is that the cost of resin is only a small part of the cost of doing a repair and is an are which is hard to save money in. I did not feel the need to go into the depths of business over heads, however it is something most of us should be aware of at all times. Personaly I love my computerised accounts package and enjoy the fact that at any time I can see how much money I am really making. As a baseline I tell guys that if they allow themselves half of what they take as wages and leave the rest in the pot they should be safe to cover all fixed and floating overheads and taxes etc. I apologise sincerely if my comments did not come across clear and precise on the first post, I may have treated the matter a litlle light hearted.
