New Business ?'s...

I am just starting a new Glass repair business and was wondering If I should just step up and start with a brand new kit or should I look for higher end used tools? I have done some repairs in the past and I really like the way the Delta stuff looks. Is this what most folks here use? How is the cutomer service? Do you use Delta resin and if so how do you like it? Just curious. Glad I found this forum, from the looks of it this is a great place to share and gain knowledge about a great way to be your own boss. Look forward to talking with ya'll in the future.

I'll let other people give you their take on our products.

As far as whether to get a brand new kit or used though, if you can afford new, obviously there will be less potential problems etc.

If you can't though, you can try ebay for a Delta Kits system. At times, they are available. Let me know if you find one, and I can give you some pointers on what to look for in a used kit, and help to make sure you are getting what is described..

Welcome! I'm fairly new to windshield repair too, but I have way too much experience buying equipment! :roll: I can tell you that the most expensive is not always the best, but I don't recommend the cheapest either. Used equipment is ok, but I've noticed that the most common used kits on ebay are there for a reason--I know first hand. I'm getting my first Delta injector on Thursday, and after using almost everything, I think I'm going to be very pleased. It's not very often I've seen Delta equipment on ebay....to me that's a good sign. Also, Delta is first class at customer service, processing orders, and answering questions. I recently received some Delta sample resin and loved it. I know there's a lot of variety in equipment used here on this forum...so this is just my opinion! One thing I found out in buying almost everybody's equipment on the market....good repairs are more about getting proper technique than the equipment you use. I couldn't get a decent repair with anything until I utilized the information in this forum and practiced, practiced, practiced.

I'll chime in and say that I concur with autocosmetics.

I am relatively new to the business (doing it part-time) and have nothing but nice things to say about my Delta equipment and their customer service.

I agree w/ auto cosmetics. The know how is more important than equipment. I tell people this ... just because you go out and buy yourself the biggest, most expensive set of tools does not make you a car mechanic. A good mechanic can do more with a screwdriver than I can with a whole shop full of tools. Here's my advice, buy from Delta. The advice you get from these guys is worth thousands of $, they are there to help and make you successful. The next hardest thing to learning the trade is the marketing. Don't quit your full time job yet. It's a very competitive business. Good luck.

Bought the 2 bridge delta kit yesterday! I have done repairs in the past but definately know there is always room for improvement. Already quite my full time gig and have 2 new ventures underway at the present time. Looking forward to learning from ya'll and maybe being able to share some marketing knowledge in the future as that is what I have done for the past 15 years.

You made a good choice in equipment, Sean. With Delta equipment and a background in marketing, you should do well. What other things are you doing? That's a big step to quit your job and go for it--I'm hoping to do that in the near future. Keep up posted how you're doing!

And I thank God for it every single day. My wife does pretty well and loves her job. This allows me to do my own thing and I know I am extremely lucky because of it. As far as the other things I'm doing. I semi manage a small race team and I am doing some consulting for a start up magazine that deals solely with the VW New Beetle. Talk about targeted marketing lol. Anyway, I will definately be typing to ya'll in the future.

I'll be using our TurboS Beetle to do repairs out of for the first couple of months. I'm using it as a marketing tool also. It's on the business cards and invoices. Getting it lettered up with a race car livery theme. I have a Beetle we race also so I'm doing both cars with the same graphics. I'm having a blast getting it all set up.
