Hi Sydfloyd44, I just checked again, now on three of my vehicles, all prints are on the inside mate. The makes are; VOLVO, BMW, Volkswagen.
Couldn't go over to our vans and trucks to check as their not at home. |

Most windshields have the watermark screened on the outside of the inner lite. Some are on the outside of the outer lite and some are on the inside of the lite. Just took a look at my 3 cars. 99 Subaru Legacy outside of outer lite. 2004 4Runner-outside of inner lite. 2000 Lexus LS400-outside of inner lite. All oe glass.
Was catching up on some work at the shop earlier and took a look at about 20 windshields. Came across an 836, 1226 and a 1257 with the watermark in between the lites. All were Pilkington brand. Can't say why they put watermarks on certain windshields in certain locations? This has my curiosity now. Might try to call our PPG or Pilkington rep tomorrow to see what they can tell me. Have a feeling they are going to relate it to different plants and how modern their molding process is. Will share what I find out. |
