Re: What if?

I always explain the process and pressure involved before work. Remind them that their windshield is broken and WILL get worse if left alone. We are attempting to stop that but it could spread during repair. Have waiver preprinted on workorder explaining the above, not a Guaranteed process and not l...

Re: TO DRILL A CHIP FOR A REPAIR

I clean my customers windows and side mirrors for the same reason I vacuum and clean out the car after a replacement. Its also the same reason why I wash my vehicle a few times a week, always clean company clothes, freshly shaven, best quality business cards, stationary and vehicle graphics and a ge...

Re: Safelite primer question.

I was a store manager of multiple Safelite locations in mid 90s. I could tell you so many stories of how they operate, locally, regionally and call centers. One thing though is my stores had highest buyout percentage of non SGC glass. Having started in the business working for LOF I was used to prem...

Re: Advertising

I have set meetings with shop foreman/fleet managers and show them my sample headlights as well as portfolio of vehicles I have worked on for glass replacement and repair. What’s the point of doing 8+ jobs a day if you miss things from rushing and end up having to fix the...

Re: Best Brand windshield

Pilkington would be manufacturer I would go with and they have the glass available still. However I would recommend having a qualified tech do the install. For that year I would definitely do a full strip to base paint. Prep, primer and use correct height set blocks so your moldings fit correctly to...

Re: Cut out tools

I’ve used the Fein many times over 28 yrs and BTB on occasion. . Don’t be afraid to use a variety of tools to remove the glass. The goal is to do it without damage to the vehicle or as little as possible as many new cars already have factory set rubbing against paint. Fein, BTB and other plunge or o...
