Re: Pit Polish

Most of the time I use a polishing wheel on the end of a dremel. I find that it impresses the client, you have a tool for that that others don't have. Lots of techs don't even fill the pit, much less do any polishing, so this will make you look like a real professional. In reality I don't think it m...

Re: Adjusters?!

Same thing here. Farmers, Allstate and State Farm too. I understand that there are hacks out there who defraud the insurers, but this not only makes it tough on us but the insureds also don't like it one bit. Got paid on one Allstate claim when the insured siced his agent onto them and told them he ...

Re: Legs - pop a bulls-eye?

First, maybe resin too thick. Second, are you flexing the crack with a probe when under pressure. I expect you are. Hold pressure on crack until resin is right up to the end. Third, Pull a vacuum after doing this, then flex the legs under vacuum. Hold for a few seconds and you will probably see a th...

Re: Fill the chip that originated a crack question.

Fill crack all the way to original chip and from chip to end of crack. Put a piece of electrical tape over the chip and cure crack. Then fill chip as normal after removing tape.

Re: New Guy Looking to Get Into WSR biz

Sarc; If you want to come here that would be fine, probably better if I can get a practice WS as the snowbird season is ending and my business is slowing quite a bit. We will be flying out of Phoenix the end of May so it might be possible to meet then if you want to wait that long. Also might meet h...

Re: Simple Bulls eye

If you take a probe and put it down the center of the injector after removing the plunger, then pushing down on the center of the bull with the probe to push the loose center piece of glass that was broken a few times, just watch the resin flow around wile you are doing this. This doesn't always hel...

Re: Delta Kits UV Light

A fully charged normal 12 volt battery will put out 12.8 volts. If it goes to 12.0 volts it is a dead battery, or nearly so. With the engine running and alternator charging the voltage will go up to 13.8 or so, sometimes 14.4 or more. I have seen them go to 15 volts when engine is running. It depend...

Re: Accidentally drilling all the way through

It happens to me once in a great while. Usually when I get used to using a dull burr and then put in a new one and forget I don't have to drill so long. It's not a real biggy, just fill as usual but you likely will have a small scar where the drill hole is that wouldn't be there otherwise. It used t...

Re: How to hold down a canopy overnight?

Take the canvas top off overnight, or any side curtains or banners attached to the sides. These are the things that put the pressure on the frame and will ruin it if there is enough wind. Leaving just the frame there will usually be OK.
