Re: Can insurances pay for cracks longer than 6 inches?

I tell customer in advance if they want to use insurance they will pay the remainder. So if I charge say $80 and insuranc...

Re: Fear the drill and tap??

Just make sure windshield isn't too hot. Tapping a star break doesn't bother me but I do get a little nervous still when tapping a long crack.

Re: Advice needed.

Yeah, call the shop up and send them the pictures or take truck back to them as soon as possible. Installer should have taped off that area. No doubt that's from the installer and scratched it when he cut out old windshield. He definitely knows he did it. Take truck back to shop.

Re: Employee theft and TIPS!

I've done both, worked for step dad doing windshields and now work for myself. Basically I go by what my step dad said. Never ask for a tip, if they offer, decline, if they offer again, take it and say thank you. Usually, when I do get tips its more of this way, I charge a certain amount and they gi...

Re: Employee theft and TIPS!

Two years ago I was giben an engraved clock thanking me for 25 years of service by one of my customers, does that count as a tip? Little different when a customer gives you something out of appreciation that you didn't ask for. Asking customers for a tip or suggesting they tip is a huge no no...

Any windshield repair only guys work out of a shop?

I know many who do replacement/repair have a shop but curious if any of ya'll who do repair only work out of a shop whether own or rent. I do mobile only right now and I do enjoy it but I've considered renting a shop, single bay. Just curious if anyone has gone from mobile to shop. I would still do ...

Re: Crack Repair info/guidance

David, I'm a fellow fireman also, good to see another one on here. I do long crack repairs and love it. It is important to note the fresher the crack the better. If people call me up saying the crack has been there for a year I usually recommend replacing.
