Re: Parking lot Chip Repair protocol

SGC is the only TPA I've had a problem with. I ask the customer to tell a little fib and say the repair hasn't been started yet. Never had a problem with that. A couple times the customer screwed up and said the repair was already done, they will still pay but they want a faxed invoice and charge an...

Re: Side Glass Repair?

Yes, the repair is the same, pretty much. You need to compensate for the glass being more vertical. It's a little harder to keep the resin at the end of the injector depending on what equipment you're using. I have not had any problems billing insurance, just specify laminated side glass.

Re: Build Customer Base

Screenman pretty much said it all with "knocking on doors". Talk to everyone who will listen. Don't assume anyone is not a customer until he proves he isn't. Once you get in that door you need to show what you can do for them. You need to set yourself apart from your competition. I got most of my ac...

Re: HELP Hand problems

Mine start out as little bumps like you said, then turn into blisters, then just raw skin. I quit wearing gloves, they just seemed to make it worse. Tried many different types of gloves, still had better luck not wearing any and just being careful not to get any resin on me and washing my hands and ...

Re: HELP Hand problems

First stop getting resin on your hands or anywhere on your skin or clothing. Clean everything you touch to get rid of resin build up. Even the steering wheel in your car. My daughter couldn't drive my car because she would get blisters on her hands from my steering wheel. I still get sloppy with the...

Re: Why do cracks glare? Why do they spread?

When customers ask me why windshields break more in the winter I tell them if there's moisture in the break, it's like putting a bottle in the freezer.

Re: Most Challenging Aspect of starting a New Business

Quest. After re-reading my post I think I should clarify one point. The report you send to the state is produced by the state, you just need to fill it in. The report I make from my software is just for my use for the numbers I need to fill out the state report. Hope that wasn't too confusing.

Re: Multiple repairs

Good to know. Thanks. Followup wuestion, do insrance companies have a limit? If you're asking about how many they pay for, most companies now pay one price no matter how many chips the customer has. There are a few companies that will pay for up to 3 repairs at a reduced price for the second and th...

Re: Most Challenging Aspect of starting a New Business

You mentioned bookkeeping. Do you provide mobile service? Tent or brick and mortar? If you are mobile how do you collect taxes for different locations, cities and counties? How do you pay them to the different jurisdictions? I am 99% mobile. No tents for me. I do have a shop, but I live out in the ...

Re: Most Challenging Aspect of starting a New Business

Your most challenging aspect will be what ever you perceive it to be. Everyone probably has a part of their business that challenges them. For me it was the bookkeeping. For many others it will be sales. From what I've seen out in the field in poor repairs, quality must be a challenge for many. The ...
